Follow the feeding guidelines shown below. Your dog’s food intake should be adjusted based upon body condition, life stage, activity, and environmental temperature. Since Nature’s Select® foods are complete and balanced, additional foods, treats and chews may alter the nutritional balance and calories. Feed with fresh water every day in a clean bowl to help good digestion. We recommend splitting this amount into two meals. Be sure to take your pets to your local veterinarian for an annual health examination.

Feeding Reproducing Females:

Nature’s Select Cold Water Recipe Dog Food has been fortified to meet the needs of reproducing (gestating and lactating) female dogs. Food consumption can vary during gestation and lactation, but reproducing females must eat enough food to maintain a good body condition. Expect intakes to increase 2 to 4 times the cups shown in the adult feeding guidelines during lactation.

Puppies start to nibble on solid food at three to four weeks of age. Use the feeding chart as a guideline. We recommend serving Nature’s Select dry food with warm water (three parts dry food, one part water) until weaned (6 to 8 weeks of age) Remove softened food after a couple of hours due to spoilage. Don’t let your puppy get too overweight and maintain an ideal body condition. Individual needs will vary with breed, activity, litter size and environmental temperature. Slight appetite changes are normal with puppies. Since Nature's Select foods are complete and balanced, additional foods, treats and chews may alter the nutritional balance and calories. Be sure to offer fresh, clean water daily. We recommend you take your pet to see your veterinarian annually.

Transitioning Your Pet to Nature's Select: When transitioning your pet to a new food, do so slowly over a period of 7 days, mixing an increasing amount of new food with old food each day.  The below transition guide will guide you through this process while helping to avoiding digestive issues & tummy trouble.

Recipe FAQs

  • Why is fish a solution for dogs with sensitive stomachs? Fish are novel proteins and easily digested, making this an ideal option for dogs with allergies, digestive issues, or overall sensitivities.
  • Is your fish wild-caught or farmed? In North America, Menhaden primarily originate from the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean. They are wild caught, and we primarily source our menhaden fish from the Gulf of Mexico sources.
  • Why Ethoxyquin Free? Ethoxyquin is a chemical preservative and pesticide commonly used on fishing boats that has been linked to liver and kidney problems, reproductive issues, behavioral problems, birth defects, skin & coat conditions, and cancer. Our Select Cold Water Recipe DOES NOT CONTAIN Ethoxyquin.

My dog groomer was shocked !

Our golden doodle’s groomer asked us what are we feeding Waylon and of course we told her. She said that she doesn’t care for that breed of dog. She said that normally when she baths them that the brush won’t go through the coat, but not with him. I’m sending the Nature’s Select dog food I feed him (3 different types) and she is going to share with other clients. We had a cocker poo for 10 years and she always commented on how shiny his coat was. Love the product and would never think of feeding him any thing else.

Dog gets sick when getting close to end of a bag of food

My German Shepard does very well with eating his food and appears to feel okay until the food starts to get towards the end of a bag. My dog gets sick and either has diarrhea or starts puking. We keep the food in a plastic container inside our home.
